Oolong Orange Magic - Oolong Tea

This oolong tea offers you a very special taste experience. It is a half-fermented tea which, using a sophisticated method, is only fermented at the edges of the fresh tea leaves. This is enlivened with a lively, fruity, natural orange flavour.

Oolong tea is reputed to raise your metabolism naturally, as the tea leaf is thermogenic. If you do not change your diet other than drinking three cups a day, you could still lose up to 7lb in a year.

Traditional Brewing Method

Oolong teas are best enjoyed when the leaves are briefly infused with hot water, which is then poured off. The tea is then reinfused and tea is poured to the lucky guests after about 1 minute. The leaves may be reinfused several times, with each resulting infusion yielding different liquor from the preceding cup.

Add sugar to taste. Milk not recommended for oolong tea.

 

Simple Hot Tea Brewing Method

Put 1 teaspoon per cup into your teapot, and add 1 more to the pot (add a little more again for a more intense infusion). Heat water to around 80-90 °C and pour over the tea leaves. Leave to infuse for 3-6 minutes, then serve and enjoy.

This tea can be brewed in a tea infuser right in your cup for a single serving.

 

Iced Tea Brewing Method

Make as for hot, but add extra tea - a rule of thumb is to double the amount of tea leaves used per cup. When the tea has cooled a little, pour over ice. It is important to make it a little stronger as the ice will water it down.
Alternatively, you can place the tea in a jug and add cold water. Leave to infuse for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge) strain and enjoy. Cold brewing will give a smoother taste.
