Information
The addition of the bergamot enhances the balance of flavours in this luxury black tea blend for a delicious traditional flavour. The citrusy taste in our Earl Grey is from the addition of natural organic bergamot oil. The bergamot orange is a type of aromatic citrus fruit that is usually grown in the Mediterranean. Bergamot oil is extracted from the skin of the bergamot fruit.
Earl Grey tea is that most British of drinks. So much so, that its alleged namesake is the British Prime Minister of the time. Was it in thanks for removing the monopoly of the East India Company on importing tea from China? The mystery surrounding the origin of this tea only adds to its allure.
A perfect alternative for tea lovers who are trying to reduce their caffeine consumption. We use a gentle natural decaffeinating process to retain the delicate flavour and aroma of this Earl Grey
The tea leaves are moistened with just water and placed under gentle pressure.
Pressurised and heated CO2 is passed through the tea leaves, where it bonds with the caffeine molecules.
Finally, the now decaffeinated tea leaves are dried and packed. With all the leaves intact, delicious.
Some people enjoy this tea with a little milk or coconut milk, although many enjoy Earl Grey without.
Great with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Some people like to add a little honey or sugar, which can even work as a milk substitute.
Especially delicious iced.
Iced Tea
Make as for hot, but add extra tea - double the amount of tea per cup is recommended.
When the tea has cooled a little, pour over ice and then serve.
Cold Brew
For a smoother taste experience.
Place the tea in a jug and add cold water.
Leave to infuse for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge)
Strain and enjoy.
